The e-tron Explorer App was to be used as an educational showcase of the e-tron technology in a pop-up store at London’s Westfield Stratford Shopping Centre.
Somo built an iPad app allowing customers to explore and configure the A3 Sportback e-tron utilising the latest 2D and 3D augmented reality. The app was also exported to HD screens via Apple Airplay so the experience can be shared by a group of people. Two core sections were built within the app, configuration and explore.
Within the configuration section, the customer can select from a small range of options including colour and alloys. This would highlight the similarity between the A3 Sportback e-tron and A3 Sportback.
Within the explore section the customer can remove specific panels of the 3D e-tron CAD to explore the inner workings of the car. Imagery and videos also supported the educational piece. Customers also had the ability to share some of the content via social medial channels.
Once a customer has finished using the app, it could go into standby mode and a screensaver animation could be used to show the energy savings of the vehicle.
